| Our Club was founded in 1951 to cater for owners of pre-war twin cylinder DKWs which were then still in active use. The Club is now open to all owners of, or those with an interest in, DKW or Auto Union two stroke engined cars, vans, cross country vehicles, DKW motor- cycles or DKW engined ‘specials’. |

| The machine was raced by Stewie St George (New Zealand) and Fritz Niemeck (Germany).
In this machine is a watercooled vertical twin, two stroke engine, the engine being super -charged (The Germans calls this a ladepumpe.)

| history of Wartburg cars goes back a long way, right back as far as 1898 when the first cars were produced in Eisenach in Germany.
Before the second world war a diverse range of vehicles were produced at Eisenach including a version of the Austin 7 built under licence called the Dixi. Before hostilities broke out the Eisenach factories were part of BMW and were building high quality cars and motorcycles. |
