Mototrans Parallel-twinsThe Spanish manufacturer based in Barcelona has produced up to 1983 Ducati specific finite and often better than those built in Italy. Their engines were manufactured under license (like the Swiss motorcycle Condor A350) but contained however some peculiarities compared to Italian models. These machines were only sold in Spain under the brand Ducati with the inscription "Made in Spain". Mototrans was born in 1958 at the association between business Maquitrans (mechanical and transport) and directed by Eusebio Micromecanica Virgili which assembled bikes with motors 60 and 98 cc Ducati sold under the brand Cliper. With no significant industrial resources it needed a partner to produce 125 new models sport because it was not possible to import them because of the protectionist policy of Spain that would have imposed very heavy taxes then. Without be a wholly owned subsidiary, Mototrans was a partner and subcontractor to Ducati. Thus the single-cylinder engines without Desmodromic were manufactured largely in Spain, moreover Mototrans never produced mono-cylinder desmo. Category: Spain
